Shigeo Tokuda, now 76, is Japan's oldest porn star. The senior citizen retired as a travel agent who, like many, did not want to really retire and truly wanted to be outside of, or rather "in the box". Ruby Productions had success with the over 40 market in Japan and is now involved with "elderly" porno distribution in the US now.
He’s famous enough that his name is a brand. The Shigeo Tokuda series shows a tactful gentleman who is a teacher of erotic arts.
Time's reports:
“The adult-video industry is very competitive,” says Glory Quest p.r. representative Kayoko Iimura. “If we only make standard fare, we cannot beat other studios. There were already adult videos with Lolitas or themes of incest, so we wanted to make something new. A relationship between wife and an old father-in-law has enough twist to create an atmosphere of mystery and captivate viewers’ hearts.”
He turned to the porn industry because of his lack of interest in the story lines of the pornos he had watched. That lack of spark led to a discussion about whether he could do a better job.
It took him a few more years because he had to unbutton his pants. Once he first stepped out of his trousers he seemingly hasn’t put them back on for long."
